Stuff you didn't know about this classic attraction!

The cars have 9 horsepower engines and have a top speed of 7.5 miles per hour.

The attraction opened as Grand Prix Raceway on the day of Magic Kingdom's opening in October 1971. It was renamed Tomorrowland Speedway in 1996.

The current track is shorter than when it first opened. When Mickey's Toontown Fair expanded to include The Barnstormer and Donald's Boat, a shortening of the attraction's track was necessary.

Starting in 2000, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was a sponsor of the attraction, and the ride became the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway. New theming and references to the real Indy track were added at that time. In 2008, Indy specific references have been going away, as the sponsorship has ended.

Al Unserbot is the official host of the Tomorrowland Indy 500.

There is a sponsor's lounge hidden in the control tower.

The voice coming from the speakers around the track is that of world famous announcer Tom Carnegie.
