Disney Parks' new "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" promotion has certainly caused quite an excited buzz this past week. Indeed, I received at least a dozen e-mails within the first two days of the TV promotional campaign. Of course, as with all such promotions, every aspiring participant has a unique situation that may need to be addressed. Here are answers to some of your most common questions: Who can participate? You can volunteer in the United States, Puerto Rico or Canada only. Children as young as 6 can participate. However, children ages 6-17 must be accompanied by an adult when volunteering. With which organizations can I volunteer? The sign up list of participating organizations will be available online starting January 1, 2010. I'm ready to go! Where do I sign up? Starting January 1, 2010, you can sign up online and select from a list of eligible volunteer opportunities with participating organizations. After you complete your volunteer activity, your service will be verified and you will receive email instructions to print vouchers that can be redeemed for your free ticket to a Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme park. No one goes to WDW for just a day! Can I have my one day pass folded into a multi-day pass or annual pass? If you already have a multi-day pass or annual pass, you can choose from the following options:
You can also UPGRADE your free ticket to another ticket type of greater value, like a multi-day pass or annual pass. You will be responsible for the incremental cost and the new ticket may only be used by the voucher holder. Do I get the ticket immediately? Should I plan my trip close to my volunteer service date? Disney says that most participants will receive their redeemable certificates within 2 weeks of completion of service. I recommend you allow plenty of time between the end of your service and your planned trip. Are there any dates when I can't use my free day voucher?
